I have always heard and seen Peripera’s lip products in the KBeauty world, and finally I got my hands on some of them! I purchased 1 shade each from the Original Peri’s Ink, Peri’s Ink the Velvet, and Peri’s Ink Stick. My focus here is to test the formula, not so much the shade, so I purchased whichever shade I thought would suit me best.
Anyway, in this review I will discuss the following aspects of all three lines of Peripera Peri’s Ink series.
- Moisture & Consistency
- Longevity of the tint
- Transferability of the tint
I will rate each of these attributes (except the scent) in these three Peri’s Ink line relatively to each other using numbers 1 through 3, reflecting from least to most favorable. I will not rate the scent because I think the scent really depends on preferences.
Below are the shades that I purchased for each line and then swatches of the shades (the last three swatches in the picture below).
Moisture & Consistency
Peri’s Ink the Original: The consistency of the Peri’s Ink the Original is a little thicker than water, but not as thick as cream. It is a little more creamy than Peripera Peri’s Tint Water but not as creamy as Peripera Peri’s Ink the Velvet. The issue I have with the watery consistency is that my upper lip doesn’t take the color. With this lip tint, I don’t always have that issue, but sometimes I do (i.e. sometimes my upper lip doesn’t take the color). I am not sure why this is the case with my upper lip. If anyone has the same problem, please let me know in the comment below why you think this is!
With my dry lips, I always look for lip products that are moisturizing. This tint is relatively more moisturizing than most tints in that it does not hold on to the dry flakes on my lips, as shown in the picture below. You can’t even see that my lips were dry on the picture on the right. However, unlike a lip balm, this tint, just like most tints, is not moisturizing enough to actually treat the dry flakes.
Peri’s Ink The Velvet: I would say that this line of Peri’s Ink lip tint is more moisturizing than the Original line because the consistency is more creamy than the Original Ink line. It is not as creamy as the Peri’s Ink the Stick line though.
Peri’s Ink the Stick: This is the most moisturizing of the three. Unlike the other two, which have a doe-foot applicator, it has the shape of a lipstick, which I like more than the doe-foot applicator.
Peri’s Ink the Stick: 3 – most moisturizing
Longevity of the tint
Peri’s Ink the Original: As you can see in the picture, by the end of my 10-hr workday, the tint stayed on my lips ever so slightly, almost gone. I tested this longevity without re-applying the tint at anytime during the day.
Peri’s Ink the Velvet: The Ink the Velvet line did not last me throughout my 10-hr workday, without re-applying.
Peri’s Ink the Stick: Just like Peri’s Ink the Velvet line, the Ink the Stick line also does not last the whole day if I don’t re-apply
Peri’s Ink the Original: 3.
Peri’s Ink the Velvet and Peri’s Ink the Stick: I think these two are about the same level when it comes to longevity of the tint. I would also re-apply at least at the 4-hr mark, if not earlier (depending on what and whether you eat/drink within those 4 hours).
Peri’s Ink the Original: This product does not transfer at all, no matter how much you put on.
Peri’s Ink the Velvet: This version does transfer, even if you put on only a single layer.
Peri’s Ink the Stick: This version transfers only a little bit.
When it comes to the scent, Peri’s Ink the Original and Peri’s Ink the Velvet have more of a fruity scent (at least for the shades that I got). Peri’s Ink the Stick, however, has more of a floral scent and its scent is more subtle than the other two. Again, as I mentioned in the beginning, the scent is really preferential, so I don’t want to rate the scent 1-3. I will say though, that personally I love floral scents, so I prefer Peri’s Ink the Stick.
From my ratings above, you can see that Peri’s Ink the Original has the least transferability and the most longevity. Peri’s Ink the Original is the least moisturizing. However, my favorite is actually Peri’s Ink the Stick because it feels the most comfortable on my lips and I prefer the floral scent over the fruity scent.
Although Peri’s Ink the Original has the least transferability, it is only slightly less transferable than Ink the Stick. Although the Original also has the most longevity, its staying power is only slightly longer than the other two, not enough for me to trade the moisturizing property of the Ink the Stick for the slightly longer staying power of the Original.
